I have become totally addicted to The Vampire Diaries. I had always enjoyed the show, but after watching The Complete Series on DVD back to back, I am even more hooked!
One of my favorite aspects of this show is that it includes humor along with romance and of course violence. It also has twists and turns along the way that keep the dialogue interesting each episode.
If you have never seen an episode of The Vampire Diaries, let me fill you in a little on the characters. At least this is how I interpret the main characters.
Stefan Salvatore is the mild mannered, low key brother. He is too sweet not to fall in love with. Of course, he is not hard on the eyes either. Tall, dark, handsome and a non-people feeding vampire. (at least now)
Stefan always looks out for the people around him and puts their safety at the top of his list, especially Elena. Elena is the stunning look-alike of his first love Katherine. She is also the love interest of both Salvatore brothers once again.

Damon Salvatore is the other half of the Salvatore brothers. Equally as handsome, but could not be more different in personality and eating habits. Damon is a womanizer and makes no excuse for it. He enjoys using the powers associated with being a vampire and uses them to his advantage at every opportunity.
While it should be easy to hate Damon, there is something about him that keeps you from it. It could be his eternal love for Katherine that endears you to him, but for me it is his sense of humor and make-no-excuse attitude.
The writers of The Vampire Diaries have a very unique and fun way of adding humor to the script. You will find the characters spouting things about current events including movies and television shows.
In one episode, Damon tells Stefan they could be great on The Amazing Race together. Damon is also found in one episode reading the "Twilight" series. He comments, "What is it that makes everyone want this Bella chick?"
The writers also touch on common vampire myths in humorous ways. In one scene Elena and Stefan are cooking dinner together. Elena asks Stefan, "Do you like garlic?" Stefan replies, "I love lots of garlic". It is the tone and look on his face that makes it a laughable moment.
If you missed out on Season One of The Vampire Diaries, pick up The Complete First Season on DVD in stores now. Tune in this Thursday, Sept 9th on the CW for The Vampire Diaries Season Two premiere.
What is your favorite part of the show? Is it the romance, violence, humor or a mixture of all the above? Who else is looking forward to Season Two?

I almost forgot to share with you guys about another exciting tidbit coming out from Harper Collins. It is a brand new vampire book! Find out why the love of a dangerous girl turned brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore into deadly enemies in The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries #1: Origins! I can't wait to read it!!
