Gerber Yogurt Blends Review: A Great Snack

I have the hardest time getting my little girl to eat breakfast. She just doesn't seem to care for many things. She also has a very hard time with textures. I guess she is going to be like her daddy...a gagger! I am telling you this, because I am always looking for something that is good and healthy for her to eat. I don't know if you guys are like me, but Gerber is a name I have always trusted in my house. So, when I was asked if I would like to try one of their products, I was happy to do so.

I was sent a new product called
Gerber Yogurt Blends. When it came in the mail, I was so surprised. I was expecting a coupon to purchase it from my store, but no! They shipped me one 4-pack in the mail. My next thought was "Oh great, why would they ship it like this? Now it is no good." I am used to my yogurt being refrigerated, as I think most of us are. Well, surprise! I am not sure how they do it, but the Gerber Yogurt Blends require no refrigeration before being opened. How convenient is that? It is so easy to throw in a diaper bag and go!!

Gerber Yogurt Blends come in 3 different flavors:

* Simply Strawberry
* Simply Banana
* Simply Peach

All of these yogurts offer the nutrition of real whole milk yogurt blended with GERBER fruit purees. They are full of calcium that will help to build strong bones and teeth. These Yogurt Blends are perfect for your child that is an independent sitter.

My daughter tried the Simply Banana that was sent to us. She was not a huge fan of it right away, but remember she is picky. I tasted a little of it and it was a bit tangy, so I can see why it took her a bit to warm up to it. I think she would have enjoyed the Simply Strawberry a little more. I do intend to purchase that flavor to see how she does. I love the fact that it can be a take and go snack so easily. I love anything that helps to make life easier when I am trying to get out the door.

You can find these
Gerber Yogurt Blends in the baby aisle at most grocery store locations. I hope your little one loves them!

*I received one 4-pack in Simply Banana to try for this review. I received no other form of compensation. The opinions in the review are from mine and my daughters experience with the product. Opinions will vary with any food item based upon personal taste.

I'll have to try this out when the new baby gets to eating foods. I had a picky eater with my last one too. He hated anything that came out of a baby food container and he hated to be fed..always insisted on feeding himself. He's still a very independent child.

The first time I saw these in the baby aisle I thought the same thing - uh, who left the yogurt unrefrigerated? My little one liked them though and you're right, super handy to toss in the diaper bag to bring along as a snack!

They don't need refrigeration because they are not real, live yogurt. If you look at the packaging, it says pasteurized after culturing -- that means they heated it after making it yogurt, which kills all of the probiotic benefits of yogurt. (That's also why it's called Yogurt Blend Snack and not Yogurt -- they can't call it yogurt because it isn't.) There's also 11 grams of sugar per container, and sugar comes first on the ingredient list before fruit. So while kids may love it, and it is convenient, I'd definitely skip this and focus on real yogurt instead.

Hi Leana,

Thanks so much for the comment. You sound very knowledgeable about yogurts. I appreciate you telling us what to look for to keep our children healthy:) It is nice to have such an intelligent person stop by. I wish that I knew what was best for my children instead of having to be told by someone else. Like I said, I guess I really am clueless.
