How many times in your life have you had to say "I'm sorry"? Of course, that is a rhetorical question! If you are anything like me, then it is more times than you would like to remember. Today's "Thankful Thoughts" is for forgiveness and acceptance of others.
I am talking about forgiveness that you ask for and forgiveness that you give as well. Either way, it is a beautiful thing. I am so thankful for people that are loving and accepting. There is no safer place to be than with someone that makes you feel loved for exactly who you are. I certainly know that I am not perfect, far from it actually. So, who am I to judge another person for mistakes they make in their life. Sure, there may be times that people hurt me and I prefer to stay mad and angry, but why?? Isn't it easier to allow for mistakes?
I know the best relationships that I have in my life are the ones that allow for me to be human. Being human means making mistakes and having to say "I am sorry." It also means that to be a good friend I have to be willing to accept those apologies too. Relationships are not easy! It doesn't matter if you are talking about a marriage, parents and children, siblings or just friends. So I am thankful for people that embrace and accept people's differences. I am thankful for people who actually want other people to succeed, rather than seeing that as a threat on their own success. I am mostly thankful for the people that help me to want to become that better person.
Remember these two things today:
*Sometimes the most unloving and unaccepting people need love and acceptance the most.
*Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself, it's not an act condoning what happened to you.
Have a great day guys and know today that you are appreciated:)

Wonderful post!! I always forgive as there is not a mean streak in me. Have a great day!
wonderful post! Lots of people fail to realize what all they have to be thankful for
Wonderful post Laurie! I really enjoyed to read your thankful thoughts. Of course we can make mistakes..but important thing is to ask about forgiveness.
Hugs!!!
This is a great post! I have been enjoying reading all of your Thankful Thoughts posts, but especially this one. I know someone who has done and said some things to me and the people, like my friends, that surround me that have really offended and hurt us all. We have talked to him about him on numerous occasions, but it all seems to go in one ear and out the other. We are all in a situation in which almost all of us see him several times a week, so we constantly get his attitude. I am trying hard to help him move on from this, and to help all of my friends move on as well. I don't want to continue to have such a weird relationship with one of my friends, and we all want to forgive him. So we're trying. :)
Thanks again for the wonderful post.
That is such a great thing to be thankful for and is often over looked. I know I'm far from perfect but often forget that :P I'm so thankful when others forgive me and accept me but I'm also thankful for the opportunity to grow into a more compassionate person by showing forgiveness to others.
This is a wonderfully written post with many good points made!! I love the quote at the end...so very true!
Sometimes two of the toughest words to say are "I'm sorry." Nice post!
Well written, Mama!
I really do need to remember this more because I know that I can be pretty stubborn when it comes to forgiving. I have a family member that has just done so many things that I'm pretty much ready to cut the ties, but really, is that the way to go? I might need to come back and read this again after the next time she does something else!
What a GREAT post, if we could all realize that when we forgive and accept, we make our lives better. If you do not forgive you will forever be imprisoned by that unforgiveness. Great job!!!
I had a grudge I was holding for about 5 years and I finally let it go. Although I will never forget it, I have forgiven. It's weird, because when I released it, I felt complete peace.
Nice post girl! And I am BACK! Missed you guys! ;)
Very well said and with lots of wisdom! Thank you.
This is a really great post. I was very interested in what you had to say.
