So, today I decided to post another book for review/giveaway. Most women like to kick back and relax with a great book. So I hope you enjoy the review and enter to win yourself a copy.

The Lace Makers of Glenmara, by Heather Barbieri, Harper/Collins Publisher released June 23, 2009

Well, once again I have to thank Harper/Collins for giving Clueless Mama this book to review. I have to thank Clueless Mama for letting me be the one to do the review. I have been enlightened to the fact that I am truly in a rut when it comes to my reading. I do not venture out of my comfort zone too often to try new authors, maybe I am the same way in life. I guess I should try to break out of the box more!

This was a delightful book, and I think it goes so well with the theme here at Guessing All the Way, this month. "Keep the spark alive"! This book is all about love. Love for husbands and wives, love for mothers and their daughters, love of friends, love of a tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation.....lace making. My mother was a seamstress and she taught me how to sew at an early age, so this book brought back several memories for me.

Kate Robinson, has just lost her mother as a twenty six year old woman. She experienced the dissolution of a five year relationship, as her significant other leaves with another woman. Kate is of Irish descent and her mother admonished her to find her roots before she passed. She tells Kate, "You can always start again, all it takes is a new thread". Overwhelmed with her breakup and the loss of her mother, Kate flees to her ancestral homeland of Ireland, never expecting the outcome.

You will meet Bernie, Colleen, Aileen, Oona and Moira. Each comes with a story of their own, but a common thread that ties them together. Once again, this book leaves me feeling as if I have left good friends behind. This is a wonderful book, please find it at your bookstore or library and enjoy! Trust me, you will kiss your Mom if you are fortunate enough to still have her. You will give your daughters an extra hug whenever possible, and snuggle your significant other every night you get the chance.

You can also enter here for the chance to win a copy! There will be 3 winners chosen from the entries. Please be sure to leave a way to contact you should you be chosen by Mr. Random.org. Also, leave a separate entry for EACH comment so all your entries get counted.

You remind me I should just pick up a book just for relaxation now and then. My problem is that when I read a good book I just can't seem to get any sleep as I can't put them down.

Popping over to visit from SITS roll call!

I love to read! I'm a book junkie. I mean seriously I need a 12 step program! Reading is often educational, sometimes entertaining and sometimes it's just simply an escape from "real life." Does this qualify for an entry? mary @ deepsouthdish dot com

The book that reminds me of my hubby and I has NOTHING to do with the status of our relationship! I read "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt the same month I met my husband and I remember telling him about it. So, it's not like we are anything like the characters in the book but rather I think of my husband when I hear that title! My husband is also irish, like Mr. McCourt, which may contribute to that!

Sex Lives of Cannibals reminds me of me and my husband...not because we have ever roughed it on a barely civilized Pacific Island but because the couple seems to have a great sense of humor about life.

Jenny said...

I love to read because I completely forget about anything else that exists--pretty much from the minute I pick the book up until I put it down hours later--which is why I haven't read a book in about 3 months because when I am actually allowed to do that??
