Okay, I guess I should start by saying, "Yes, I realize it is not Thursday." I was suppose to do this yesterday, but as of yesterday I had done nothing fun to write about. I know, how sad for me! :( Don't feel too bad though! Tonight I am sitting on the porch of a beautiful cabin-style home in Estes Park, Colorado.
We were invited to stay here with my family by some amazing friends of ours. You can't have too many of those. As I sit here, I can see and hear the river running below me. It is such a relaxing sound. The sky is clear and lit with thousands of stars. There is a cool breeze from the river, just enough to chill the air. I have actually seen two raccoons scamper past as they search for their midnight snack. It is so peaceful and beautiful here. I have not personally had an actual hour of "me time", but what I had today was better.
I got to see my son fish for the first time as my husband taught him. I got to wade out into a gorgeous river. It may have been cold, okay very cold, but I love the water. It also gave my family some laughs, as I almost busted my butt going across. I watched as my little girl attempted waving for the first time. I felt so happy as the kids played and laughed with each other. It warmed my heart as I watched them all together. I observed my dad and mom as they enjoyed their children and grand babies. It gave me such pleasure to be here with them.
Tonight, we played card games as a family. We laughed and joked with each other until Midnight. It has been a long time since I have gotten to do that. I may have had a baby nursing while I did it, but it didn't matter. Today my life was perfect. Family, friends, children laughing and playing...it doesn't get better than this!

You have a wonderful blog! x
I really love this post Clueless Mama! You described it as if we were there with you! I remember watching my son fishing for the first time with my husband, it's an incredible bond. And watching your own parents enjoy their grandchildren...you're right, it doesn't get much better than that!
That sounds lovely! Beautiful surroundings + loved ones = bliss & contentment! Hope the rest of your weekend is just as wonderful as it has been so far!
sounds lovely.
Awww, that is wonderful Laurie! Family time is so important. Reading your post makes me miss mine incredibly. We don't live near our families so we can't have time like this together. Enjoy these moments and soak them up! I'm glad to hear that you're having such a great time.

WOW, now that sounds awesome! I have to agree and say what you're doing definitely beats out being alone for an hour. Moments like that bring so much more peace.
From your description it sounds like you are in a very beautiful place, enjoy it!!!!
Sounds like a fabulous time! Fun Family Time!
My husband and I used to go to Estes Park all the time before we were married. We used to live in Cheyenne and had to escape as much as possible! We also really like spending time in Fort Collins.
Hope you have a great rest of your trip!
Hearing the river run is one of my TOP favorite experiences. I am so enjoying your blog! I'm excited to have found it. I am a new follower! :)
Looks and sounds fantastic.
Thanx for getting back!
Yes, Ido watch America's got Talent sometimes!
Were you guys looking out at the Big Thompson?
Estes Park is my favorite place to visit! My husband and I just visited Colorado last month (3rd. time out there together), and for the first time made it into Rocky Mountain National Park. That was really cool. I wish we had been able to stay longer because there was so much to see in the Park! They even had a junior ranger program where our boys earned badges. It was great.
Enjoy your vacation!
That looks like it was beautiful!!
Fishing for the first time and late night card games? Doesn't get any better than that! The water looks beautiful.
Kelly Clarkson was great...she sang all my faves along with some covers of Patsy Cline and Rod Stewart.. : )
Aww I'm glad you enjoyed your family time! It looks like a beautiful place!
I hope you like the chocolate covered vanilla oreos! Anytime someone tries one of my recipes I get so nervous, like maybe they won't think its good. But I do know everyone here says I didn't make enough and they were gone quick!
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Lucy's surgery. Its just outpatient for her toe, when she was born it was bent a the joint for some reason. But I'm super nervous still because they have to put her under. That's soooo scary for a mommy, even if the procedure is "no big deal." Again, thank you so much for your comments!
Such a great post. Fishing with your baby! So much fun:)
I loved this!
Your pictures are great! Kids rock.
